The Miracle
Lyrics
The Miracle

I'm crouched in this mudhole
Too scared to raise my head
Shells are falling everywhere
We're all dying or dead

And it's too late for miracles
Or I'd beg for my life
The sky is so beautiful
And God I love my wife

I wish I could hold her
In my arms one last time
And I wish I had told her
The things on my mind

Now there's shouting and screaming
My bayonet's on
And it's too late to make my peace
With those I have wronged

There's nowhere to run to
And no place to hide
What am I doing here...
I'm too young to die

Then suddenly it's over
A strange silence in the air
I can't believe I'm breathing
Is anybody there?

And somewhere in the darkness
Half a world away
A little girl has said her prayers
"God,keep my Daddy safe..."

And I wish I could hold her
In my arms one last time
What am I doing here...
I'm too young to die

Description
Short Song Description:
"The Miracle" is a song about a soldier in the trenches under heavy shelling, and his thoughts and fears during what he believes are his last moments.
Long Song Description:
"The Miracle" is a song depicting the thoughts of one soldier in the front lines under heavy fire.It does not glorify war,and follows the genuine thoughts of soldiers who are surrounded by death,in a hopeless situation, and believe they also will die within moments. As he thinks about his family and his regrets about his life, the scene changes to a young child, possibly his daughter, praying by her bedside for the safety of her father.Against all odds,he is the lone survivor of this battle. The implication is that the prayer of his daughter has been heard...
Long Song Description:
This song was written to honor the common soldier, those who have and would sacrifice their lives for others to live in freedom.
